Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cubed
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • Salt and pepper
  • Neutral oil (for shallow frying)
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 23 tbsp honey or sugar
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp lemon juice or vinegar
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for slurry)
  • Green onions & sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Coat chicken with cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. Shallow fry until golden and crisp. Set aside.
  3. Simmer orange juice, zest, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and vinegar in a pan.
  4. Thicken with cornstarch slurry until glossy.
  5. Toss fried chicken in the sauce until coated.
  6. Serve hot over rice or with stir-fried veggies.
