Hamburger & Potato Casserole

A comforting and hearty dish layered with seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and melted cheese. Perfect for family dinners or make-ahead meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (or homemade substitute)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or blend)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: green onions, parsley, paprika for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook ground beef in a skillet over medium heat with onion and garlic until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Layer half the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Top with half the beef mixture.
  4. Repeat layers, ending with potatoes.
  5. Whisk together soup and milk, pour evenly over the dish.
  6. Top with cheese. Cover with foil.
  7. Bake covered for 45 minutes, uncover and bake an additional 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  8. Rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
