Crispy Mozzarella Sticks – A Golden, Gooey Snack Favorite

  • 12 sticks low-moisture mozzarella or string cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Neutral oil for frying (vegetable, sunflower, or canola)

Instructions

  1. Cut mozzarella into sticks if using a block; keep whole if using string cheese.
  2. Set up three bowls for flour, beaten egg + milk, and seasoned breadcrumbs.
  3. Dip each stick in flour → egg → breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb steps for a double coat.
  4. Freeze the coated sticks on a tray for 1–2 hours.
  5. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry sticks in batches for 1–2 minutes until golden.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauces.
