This Classic Chicken Alfredo is rich, creamy, and packed with cheesy flavor! Featuring tender pan-seared chicken, fettuccine pasta, and a homemade Parmesan Alfredo sauce, this dish is easy to make and better than takeout. Perfect for weeknight dinners, special occasions, or meal prep!

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (sliced)
  • 12 oz fettuccine pasta

Alfredo Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 ½ cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Optional Add-Ins:

  • Red pepper flakes (for spice)
  • Mushrooms, spinach, or broccoli
  • Nutmeg (¼ tsp for depth of flavor)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil salted water, cook fettuccine until al dente, and drain. Reserve ½ cup pasta water to adjust the sauce later.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Season with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tbsp butter in a pan and sear chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden. Remove, let it rest, then slice into thin strips.
  3. Make the Alfredo Sauce: Melt butter in the same pan, then sauté garlic for 30 seconds. Stir in heavy cream and milk, then simmer for 3 minutes. Add Parmesan cheese, whisking until smooth.
  4. Combine Everything: Toss pasta in sauce, then add chicken slices. Adjust thickness with reserved pasta water if needed.
