For the Crust:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cold butter, cubed
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons ice water
For the Filling:
- 6 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji work best!)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
For the Egg Wash:
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
1️⃣ Make the Pie Crust
- Mix flour and salt, then cut in cold butter until crumbly.
- Add ice water, mix until dough forms, and chill for 30 minutes.
2️⃣ Prepare the Apple Filling
- Toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch.
- Let sit for 15 minutes, then drain excess liquid.
3️⃣ Assemble the Pie
- Roll out the dough, place it in a pie dish, and add the filling.
- Cover with a top crust (or lattice), seal the edges, and cut slits for steam.
4️⃣ Bake the Pie
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the crust with egg wash and bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
5️⃣ Cool & Serve
- Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or cheddar cheese.
